Thanks for leaving a comment. We now have another space to share ideas in Spanish!

I always remember your blog when I do the listening activity about potlatches with my students.

See you in the blogosphere! :)

Thank you so much, Carla!

I need to learn a bit more before I can fully process your thorough answer.

Due to a mishap I have lost your mail address, but I've got your blog on del.icio.us, so I guess I can always find you. Thanks again.

Best,
Mariel

Hi, Mariel!

Thanks a lot for your comment!

At Blogging 4 Educators we used the Yahoo Group as our central communication hub for updates, announcements and general questions. However, we focused our weekly discussions on the blogs. In that way, we centralized each discussion on a single thread, which is easier to read and follow.

Regarding the special characteristics of blogs I can mention:

Tagging: by tagging or labeling each post it is easier to find related information or connect to other people who are discussing the same topic.

Other Social Networking features:through the readers or contributors'profiles you have access to their own blogs, which helps to build a real network.

I think the Web 2.0 is mainly about networking and building learning contexts. It's a democratic environment in which knowledge is distributed and we learn better in collaboration. Anyway, having a suite of tools such as a YG, a blog, a wiki, etc., seems to be the best way to cater for the specific needs of a learning community.

The topic is certainly too broad and too complex, but I'd love to keep sharing ideas.

Regards,

Carla

Hi, Carla!
I literally stumbled upon your blog and I'm absolutely fascinated!
Congrats on all your achievements!
I'm just learning to take my first steps on Web 2.0, and I can see you're quite the master.
Perhaps you can help me with this metaphysical doubt. I have seen that in Blogging For Educators you have both a blog and a Yahoo Group. I have been using Yahoo groups for a number of years, and I can't really see why blogs are superior (or at least why they are all the rage). Your views?
Thanks
